I’m J.

I write, here in this space I’ve created for myself, about almost everything that touches me. Whether it’s my femme identity, my butch girlfriend (B), my family or friends, grad school or work, traveling or taking pictures, babies or poetry, sex or heartbreak, or what I had for dinner. I write for myself and for no one else and I make no apologies.

B and I met shortly after my ex, EJ, left me for another woman. That’s the inspiration for the title of the blog – evolution – because getting yourself back together after 6 years of a life together – love, home, pets, camper, bank accounts, etc – requires constant evolving and changing. And once the heartbreak lessened, I learned quickly that life in general requires evolution, not just when tragedies take place. It has not been easy, but it’s been necessary, and I’m grateful.

I had a dog named Gracie, the most awesomest dog on the planet. She died in October of 2009, unexpectedly, when she was only 5. She was a soul mate of mine, a connection I cannot adequately put into words. She is greatly missed.
